Welcome

Fairbanks Alaska Shooters is affiliated with the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA).  We welcome shooters of all ability levels who can safely handle a center-fire handgun or pistol caliber carbine, including loading and unloading your pistol/PCC without assistance and drawing from a holster. We hope that you will come out and give USPSA a try!

USPSA Range Officer

Introduction

We will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about getting started with USPSA, but here are a few pointers to make that first visit a pleasant experience for all concerned.

  1. Eye and ear protection is required for competitors and spectators while on the range. You are able to use normal corrective lenses or sunglasses as eye protection. FAS has a few pairs of loaner eye protection and a large supply of foam earplugs if you forget.
  2. All firearms must be unloaded when entering the premises (that includes spectators and concealed carry). USPSA operates on a COLD RANGE. That means that there are no loaded firearms in the area except under the direct supervision of a Range Officer. If you do have a loaded firearm on your person, immediately notify a range officer and they will walk you through the process of clearing that firearm.
  3. Lastly, we ask that new shooters arrive at least 30 minutes before the posted start time. First-time shooters with FAS are required to go through a new shooter briefing where an RO or experienced shooter will walk you through the basic rules of USPSA. If you do not arrive 30 minutes early, you may not be able to shoot.
